Senator Lamar Alexander (R) Tennessee, recently visited Memphis and said about the recent non-binding vote to repeal the Medical Device Tax, “We had both Democratic and Republican support, I think the chances are good that the 2.3 percent excise tax on the revenues of medical device companies will be repealed before very long.” The vote Senator Alexander referred to was considered largely symbolic. Although, when you consider the general bipartisan support the vote received there may be some hope for the medical device tax repeal.  The sticking point is that the money needed to replace the projected revenue loss ($60 billion) to the PPACA must be made up somewhere else in the budget.
